Our Story

In The Beginning...

Our Co-Founders, Anthony & Brad, have been very good friends for more than 20 years and often, whilst catching up or enjoying a beer or two, the topic of starting a car business with a difference would come up. The idea of creating a car business with the same level of trust people would expect from a main dealer but with a greater focus on the customer's experience than these large corporations would often deliver. After what felt like an eternity of deliberation, it was finally time to make it a reality and in 2016 they made their move. Anthony left his dealership where he had been since he was 16, the only place of work he had ever known. Anthony brought with him a wealth of knowledge with 20 years' experience rising from a junior mechanic to general manager; responsible for all their busy service centre and car sales business. Brad returned from 5 years in Asia, recently married with a growing family on the way. He's always lived and breathed digital starting his first business at 21 years and creating several businesses, all of which had a heavy emphasis on the consumer's experience. Together, they rented Kinckhams Barn, at that time in need of a little TLC, but in a beautiful & picturesque location on the outskirts of Colchester. The barn has since been developed and is still the Mantis Cars "home" blessed with a host of bendy/hilly roads right on the doorstep, perfect for a thorough test drive in any vehicle. The location is easily accessible by road (via a12), train (Colchester North Station) or air (Stansted Airport approx. 45 mins) with a complimentary collection service available.
